BND-031Worth a year

Is The northern lights from a glass igloo worth it?

For most people, yes — as long as you understand you are buying comfort, not certainty. A glass igloo frames the aurora from a warm bed, which is a gift to anyone who hates the cold. But the lights are weather-and-solar-dependent, so you may lie under clear glass and empty sky and still see nothing.

€€€ · September–March · 2–4 nights

Worth it if

  • You want the aurora without freezing outdoors
  • Comfort and a warm bed matter to you
  • You can stay several nights to raise your odds

Skip it if

  • You expect a guaranteed light show
  • One night is all your trip allows
  • Light pollution near the igloos would disappoint a purist

The catch

Glass fogs, resorts carry ambient light, and a single clouded night can waste the whole trip. Book three nights or more, go on a solar-active forecast, and treat any sighting as luck rather than a purchase.
